Videos Show The Technology And Craftsmanship That Goes Into Making Our World-Famous Motorcycle Seats

A pair of videos, conveniently available to view on YouTube, offer excellent "backstage" views into how we make our seats here at Saddlemen.

The first clip spotlights Saddlemen-sponsored flat track racer Jared Mees, who, like dozens of racers over the decades, have proudly been supported by our company. The presentation also features commentary and insights from our President and founder, Tom Seymour, who walks the viewer through our state-of-the-art production and design methods.

Another presentation shows the processes and activities going on over a typical, busy day at our Southern California factory and R&D center. We're proud to be able to show the excellent work and commitment to quality that goes into the crafting and building of our American-made seats.

We hope these clips will give an insight into the expert, skilled work; top-of-the-line production technology; and pride in our product that are cornerstones of Saddlemen's business.

Article Shows Saddle Design In-Progress

Saddlemen is proud to have a custom-made seat featured as part of the current Hot Bike Magazine series of articles showing the transformation of a 2000 model year Harley-Davidson Sportster into a tribute to the 1977 XLRCR cafe racer.

Above: shown with the bike in progress, the article shows our craftsmen designing, fitting and tailoring the seat.

The editors of Hot Bike Magazine were kind enough to let us share the article online. It can be viewed here. Our thanks to the people at Hot Bike for letting us share this content from their April 2011 issue. A second installment will appear in their May issue, showing the completed project.

Custom seat work has been a tradition at Saddlemen since our founding. Our expert designers and technicians have decades of experience in creating the optimal seat for any machine and any riding style, combining our industry-leading materials and know-how.

New Models Combine Structure Of "Track" Seat Types With Carbon Fiber-Look Center Channel Strip And Cover

Coming soon to Saddlemen's online store are our new Track-CF seats, built with the same quality, value and innovation as our Track style seats, while offering the high-tech look associated with carbon fiber material.

Above: our Track-CF seat for the Yamaha R6 for the 2008 and 2009 model years.

As with our other Gel Channel, lines of seats, the Track-CF is built for ultimate versatility, whether for vigorous track riding, or long miles on the highway. They feature Saddlemen’s Gel Channel (GC), technology, incorporating a split piece of SaddleGel and a channel in the base foam, relieving seating pressure, increasing blood flow, and keeping the rider in the saddle longer. Saddlemen Mourns Recent Loss Of Sponsored Racer

Saddlemen ownership and staff were saddened to learn of the death of long-time flat track racer Rick Hocking. We were proud to sponsor Rick for several years now. Only recently he'd finished third at this year's Saddlemen Vintage Class competition at Gene Romero's WCFTS event in Las Vegas.

A California native, Rick was a rodeo rider in his youth, until getting involved in motorcycle racing in the late '60s. He raced on the AMA Grand National circuit from the mid-1970s until the early 1980s, winning four Grand National races.

Rick J. Hocking - November 25, 1952 to January 18, 2011

We at Saddlemen, since our founding, have enjoyed and taken pride in sponsoring motorsports racers and events. And while machines provide the thrill, velocity and competition possible, it's the spirit, commitment and courage of riders like Rick that make the heart and soul of the sport.
