We're At Salem Harley-Davidson For The Big Weekend Rally, With A Northwest Flair

Running this weekend, from Thursday, July 14th through Sunday, July 17th, we'll be at Oregon's Salem Harley-Davidson for the big "Good Vibrations" motorcycle rally and charity event, going on in the Salem and Keizer area. The weekend offers a wide range of activities, from NHRA racing, live music, winery visits and a parade and poker run.

Gary Smith will be representing Saddlemen at Salem H-D, demonstrating our product line of motorcycle seats and luggage, and available for expert insight on choosing the right Saddlemen gear, along with helpful hints and installation advice. We're there with the well-known Drag Specialties truck, and their traveling aftermarket products display, featuring elite aftermarket manufacturers.

Salem Harley-Davidson is located just off Interstate 5. Their address 3601 Silverton Road N.E., in Salem. Their telephone number is (503) 363-0634.

Saddlemen is excited to be at the second "Good Vibrations" rally, and we hope to meet plenty of Northwestern riders. We travel the country throughout the year to the biggest events, so that we can stay in touch with the riding public, and let everyone see the great quality and value of our products. Keep an eye out for us the rest of the summer, and into the fall.

An Excellent Example Of Our Craft

Recently our seat makers got the opportunity to build a custom seat for Jim Grant, owner and publisher of FlattrackWorld.com. Jim was kind enough to send us this photo of the seat, now installed on this great looking track machine.

FlattrackWorld.com Rotax with custom Saddlemen seat

Working from our tried-and-true Flat Track racing saddle design, our crafts people gave it a tough, durable and stylish "carbon-fiber" vinyl cover, with custom embroidery.

Custom seat design and tailoring has been a cornerstone of Saddlemen's work since our founding. To see more examples and information, check out our custom seat section. Our customer service staff is ready to help to create the perfect seat to meet the performance and style demands of any rider.

Our Riders Leave The Cars At Home

Recently, Saddlemen held a "Ride To Work Day," for our staff to commute on their motorcycles. Quite a range of machines showed up: baggers to sport bikes; Harleys and imports; brand-new, out-of-the-showroom models alongside vintage custom-project rebuilds.

Riders form the cornerstone of Saddlemen's people. From ownership and management, to R&D and engineering, customer service and sales, and out onto the factory floor, riders - who bring their experience and enthusiasm - are at the core of what we are about.

Our company's riding experience, and our love of motorsports, helps us to produce seats, luggage and other accessories with an eye for function, usefulness, ergonomics, as well as value. When you buy Saddlemen, you buy knowing riders are involved in every step of development of our product line.

A Great Time At "Heritage Harley Day"

Heritage HD Customers

This past Saturday, June 11th, our "road warrior" product expert, Gary Smith, was on hand at Heritage Harley-Davidson, with the traveling Drag Specialties display truck. Gary got to meet and show off Saddlemen gear to lots of area riders. At left is Bill Thorn, owner of a new BR1800 back seat and sissy bar bag, pictured with friend David Weller.

During his years on the front lines of customer service, Gary has assisted thousands of Saddlemen owners with installation and usage questions. His words of wisdom can help avoid problems and supply hints for getting the most out of our gear. For example, with our Back Seat & Sissy Bar Bags, like shown here, Gary has a couple of recommendations, "When installing any of our bags, always be sure to keep the mounting straps clear of the exhaust and wheels. Also, on the mounting straps for the sissy bar bags - they do not have to be pulled REALLY tight. It's best to leave a little slack in the strap."

Our thanks go out to our hosts at Lisle, Illinois' Heritage Harley-Davidson for putting on a great event.

Heritage Harley Davidson

Watch for Saddlemen appearances at rallies and bike shop events across the country, throughout the year. We believe the first hand product demonstrations and customer feedback we get from the riding public at events like "Heritage Harley Day" are an amazing resource, and an opportunity to "read the pulse" of the community we gear the Saddlemen line to serve.

Recent Wins Put Saddlemen-Sponsored Rider Into The Lead In Flat Track Racing's Grand National Championship Field

Saddlemen racer Jared Mees nailed another win on his Rogers Lake Racing/Blue Springs Harley-Davidson XR750 at Hartford Motor Speedway’s first-ever half-mile flat-track race of the AMA Harley-Davidson Grand National Championship in Hartford, Michigan on June 11th.

It was just two weeks ago when Mees, the 2009 AMA Pro Twins Champion, won the historic Springfield Mile. He also came within one spot of making history by almost winning the famous Springfield TT national on his Honda CRF450. With his victory at Hanford he sits firmly on top of the Twin series point tally with a 14 point margin and is in a pitched Grand National Championship battle with series leader Sammy Halbert and fellow racer Jake Johnson.

With this win and regional short track wins during the off week, Mees is reaffirming his strengths as an all-around racer. Certainly, with national wins on mile and half-mile tracks and a second on the TT within the last three weeks he’s proving to be a force to be reckoned with regardless of the distance or machinery.

In the main event Mees, beat runner up Kenny Coolbeth by a tick over three seconds – quite a distance in the hotly contested event. Meese is now on tap to buy dinner for Saddlemen President Tom Seymour (who is arguably Jared’s biggest supporter) by winning the night’s points-paying Dash-for-Cash over the Kawasaki of Johnny Lewis.

For more information on Jared Mees and the other racers who battle in the AMA Pro Flat Track Grand National Championship, visit the AMA Flat Track Home Page. For specific news about Saddlemen supported racers and events, visit our website's Racing Section.
