Videos Show The Technology And Craftsmanship That Goes Into Making Our World-Famous Motorcycle Seats
A pair of videos, conveniently available to view on YouTube, offer excellent "backstage" views into how we make our seats here at Saddlemen.
The first clip spotlights Saddlemen-sponsored flat track racer Jared Mees, who, like dozens of racers over the decades, have proudly been supported by our company. The presentation also features commentary and insights from our President and founder, Tom Seymour, who walks the viewer through our state-of-the-art production and design methods.
Another presentation shows the processes and activities going on over a typical, busy day at our Southern California factory and R&D center. We're proud to be able to show the excellent work and commitment to quality that goes into the crafting and building of our American-made seats.
We hope these clips will give an insight into the expert, skilled work; top-of-the-line production technology; and pride in our product that are cornerstones of Saddlemen's business.

New Seat Models Combine Best Design And Features Of Saddlemen Product Line
The latest innovation in riding comfort; the Explorer™ G-TEC combines elements of Saddlemen’s famous touring seat family with the advancement of Gel Channel technology, incorporating gel and a channel in the main foam (patents pending).
The G-TEC's flexible fabric cover breathes well, and is installed over a concealed gel channel and a layer of memory foam that conforms to the shape of the rider’s body, relieving seating pressure and increasing blood flow to keep the rider and passenger comfortable and in the saddle longer.
The deep, wide contours of the saddle are mated with a new nose shape to create a long distance saddle that helps the rider touch the ground with confidence at stops.
Many G-TEC models are available with a matching driver’s backrest for superb lumbar support and riding comfort. Each seat is easy-to-install with all necessary mounting hardware and instructions included. All Saddlemen seats are proudly made in the U.S.A.
Available for the latest Harley Davidson Touring, Softail, Dyna and Sportster models; Honda Shadow Aeros and VTX1300's; Kawasaki Vulcan 900's; Suzuki C50 and M50 Boulevard's; and Yamaha XVS1300 V-Star Classics.
Saddlemen continues our tradition and commitment to improving the riding experience for the motorcycling public, with innovation and real-world experience. Our ongoing efforts in research and development continue to improve and refine our products.
Avid Race Fans Join Saddlemen and Racing Legends at Laguna Seca MotoGP for Launch of Peter Starr’s Latest Motorcycle Tome
Many of the thousands of race fans attending the Laguna Seca MotoGP event on July 21st received a special treat as world road racing champions Kenny Roberts, Wayne Rainey and Eddie Lawson, plus flat track racing legend Gary Nixon joined famed film maker Peter Starr for the launch of Starr’s new Saddlemen-sponsored book “Taking It To The Limit – 20 Years Of Making Motorcycle Movies”.
Starr’s large coffee table book: “Taking it to The Limit – 20 Years Of Making Motorcycle Movies” is a rich collection of images and stories about filming the greatest names in motorcycle racing history. In addition to Roberts, Rainey, Nixon and Lawson the book documents Starr’s experience filming riders such as Roger DeCoster, Steve Baker, Mike Hailwood and many other legends.
A special book printing made copies available so the famed racers, and Starr himself, could autograph the high quality, color book for the excited fans. Remarked one fan; “Peter’s film was special as it focused upon the sport and racing as they moved from the seventies into the eighties. Motorcycles were evolving fast and the racers had to be pretty skilled to keep those bikes under control. Peter captured their exploits on film and we can now learn more about those times with his book!”
Saddlemen’s role, as a presenting sponsor of the book, was a natural continuation of the support provided to racers of all disciplines. Universally recognized as one of the nation’s strongest supporters of flat track racing; Saddlemen President Tom Seymour is pressing forward with a higher level of support in the road race arena to help showcase the company’s new Sportbike seat and accessory offerings.
Accompanying the book is a DVD featuring special outtakes from several of Starr’s award-winning films including his best known movie, “Take It To The Limit.” Also on the DVD is a special greeting from Seymour in which he provides a fascinating look at the engineering and processes behind the country’s premier motorcycle seat, luggage and accessory manufacturer.
The iconic “Take It To The Limit” film was recently made available in DVD format. Starr’s book will be available for order from Saddlemen in the near future. Check back at www.saddlemen.com in the coming weeks for additional information about the book’s availability and for additional racing and enthusiast news.

Our Product Development Staff Is On The Lookout For Bikes For Design And Research
Here at Saddlemen™ we are not only working on products for new motorcycles, but also constantly updating our existing products and adding products for existing motorcycle models.
As it’s often more difficult to find a existing model motorcycle at one of our friendly local dealerships, we are turning to you, our customers, to lend us a hand.
We need various brand and model motorcycles to develop or check the fitment of new accessories. Obviously we do not expect anyone to do this for free and are more than willing to reward your efforts with new Saddlemen product.
Currently, we are looking to work with:
Honda Shadow VT1100C Spirit for 1995 through 2008
Honda Shadow VT1100C2 Sabre for 2000 through 2009
Suzuki M109 for 2006 through 2009
Saddlemen continually works to develop new, innovative products, as well as refining and improving existing products.
Safety-Related Links On The Web
At recent riding and store events, our sales staff got the chance to speak with members of the California Highway Patrol, and the California Motorcycle Safety Program about the latest efforts to make riding safer, especially considering the growth of motorcycle use for daily commuting.
Both the California Motorcycle Safety Program, in our home state, and the national Motorcycle Safety Foundation, provide a wealth of information and the latest safety-related news for riders and prospective riders.
One of the handiest links on the web comes from the Motorcycle Safety Foundation, providing a locator for basic and advanced riding courses across the country.
Traveling out-of-state? This link spells out the nation’s helmet and vehicle laws state by state.
Here at Saddlemen, we believe highway safety is a “two-way street.” With this in mind, we have been quite pleased to see organizations, such as the California Highway Patrol, work to increase awareness of motorcycle safety among the general driving public, with efforts like California’s freeway message board campaign to alert commuters to stay aware of the state’s motorcyclists sharing the road.
At Saddlemen we are proud to show what our expertise, craftsmanship and technology can do to make riding better… and encourage everyone to stay alert and safe on the road.

With 2009 “In The Rear View Mirror,” We’re Looking Ahead, Geared Up For Continued Growth And Innovation In 2010
As the year draws to a close, we at Saddlemen want to thank our customers, the shops and dealerships across North America that sell our products, our fine distributors, and the riding public in general for their continued patronage and interest in our motorcycle seats and luggage lines. We are proud to serve you for another year, and plan to continue for years to come.
In 2009, we continued to introduce top-of-the-line new products, such as our BR1800 back seat and sissy bar bag; our EXR1000 models to our line of roll bags; and new motorcycle seats, like our latest additions to our Pro Tour saddle line for Harley Davidsons.
We will continue releasing innovative, exciting new products in 2010. Our motorcycle luggage line will continue to expand, as we debut new items with the features, inventiveness and value the public has come to expect from Saddlemen. We’ll also introduce a wide range of high-quality, tend-setting seats and luggage designed for even wider ranges of motorcycles, for a new “audience.”
This last year also brought Saddlemen a proud new milestone to our long-standing commitment to race sponsorship. Saddlemen-sponsored motorcycle racer Jared Mees had a great 2009 season, winning the year’s AMA Twins Flat Track title. We will continue this tradition of support for motorsports in 2010, and will offer frequent news updates and web links about the riders we proudly sponsor.
We at Saddlemen send everyone best wishes for the new year, with plenty of riding enjoyment!
We invite you to see what our expertise and technology can do to make riding more enjoyable – now, and in the future.
We’re Keeping Our Holiday Hints List Active For Post-Christmas Shopping Ideas
From all the people at Saddlemen, we would like to offer our best Holiday greetings, and best wishes for the New Year to everyone visiting our site, and to all of the great dealers across North America and the staff of our distributors that do such a great job all year long providing our products to the riding public!
At the start of the holiday shopping season, Saddlemen created a special section on our website, offering a printable list of many of our popular, and most economical items. We’re going to keep the list available, along with the special spotlight page on the web site, for post-holiday shopping help.
Our goal is to help out the rider looking to add the perfect compliment for that new bike, or new accessories that showed up under the tree (without breaking the bank).
For those wanting to shop online, this “Holiday Gift Values” section highlights some of our best values, readily available for quick shipping.
We offered another bit of help by putting together our printable PDF flyer for potential Saddlemen buyers to take to any local shop to help order items featured in our suggestion list. This will assist any shop that works with the major distributors, Drag Specialties and Parts Unlimited, to immediately identify and correctly order the desired item.
We’ll keep the special section running on the website, and continue to offer the PDF for downloading, because we know that holiday shopping doesn’t always end with Christmas!
We invite you to see, and give the gift of, what our expertise and technology can do to make riding more enjoyable.
