RESPONSIBILITIES:

● Consulting with the internal team to determine requirements for product design.
● Work with the internal team to determine whether design concepts can be produced at a reasonable cost.
● Work independently on designated styles by creating mock-up samples and prototypes of new products from 2D drawings or sketches.
● Identify and recommend alternatives to resolve issues and support the product team to meet the design and engineering approval date per the product timelines.
● Manage appropriate inventory of materials used in development.
● Communicate the progress of projects with the development/engineering team.
● Layout and construct various molds for production and experimental tools.
● Pattern and mold making.
● Fiberglass lamination of tooling masters.
● Place projects in specified sequence as outlined by timelines.
● Use air and battery-powered tools to complete assemblies according to work instructions.
● Must be willing to rotate to different workstations as production needs require.
● Must be flexible in work assignments, as different seating models require different assembly operations.
● Read and follow work instructions.
● Check completed products for conformity and repair or modify discrepancies if detected.
● Ability to work both independently and as a team member.
● Follow safety and health standards using dust masks, respirators, gloves, eye protection, and other protective equipment as required.
● Perform other duties as assigned by management, supervisors, and/or management.
● Maintain raw materials, work in process, and finish products neatly and in an orderly manner.
● Inspect products during production to ensure the highest quality.
● Organize, clean, and maintain workstations as assigned.
● Work in collaboration with other employees at times working together in Lean Cells.
● Coordinate the sharing of equipment as needed.
● Ask lots of questions.
● Be passionate.
● Other duties and tasks may be assigned by manufacturing management as necessary.

EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

● Five years of upholstery pattern-making experience is highly desired.
● Must be able to stand for up to 8 hours per day.
● Ability to use standard power and hand tools.
● Able to work with/around fiberglass materials.
● Follow direction.
● Strong attention to detail.
● Thrive in a fast-paced production environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to fingers, handle, feel, hear, and talk. The employee is required to stand and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

● All facets of set-up and operation of industrial sewing machine.
● Guide parts under needle following edges, seams, and guides on machine bed or markings on part.
● Sew to Production Sample, follow Product Guides, and observe stitching to detect defects. Notify either the Manufacturing Supervisor or Sewing Lead when defects are caused by machine malfunction or sewer error.
● Select, cut and organize sewing supplies such as binding, webbing, cord, tape, or thread according to specifications or color of material as stated on the Work Order.

● Cut excess thread or material. Oil machines.
● Inspect product during production to ensure the highest quality.
● Construct products as specified by the Work Order, Samples, Product Guides and Patterns.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS & ABILITIES:

● Must have experience in industrial sewing including the use of industrial sewing machines. Heavy stitching experience a plus.
● Ability to follow Product Guides and interpret work orders including a variety of instructions. Furnished in written, oral, or schedule forms.
● Must be able to speak, read, write and comprehend English or Spanish.
● Strong organizational skills.
● Team oriented and respectful.
● Strong attention to detail.
● Ability to work at a productive pace with no errors.

EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

● Experience with various industrial sewing machines.
● Experience creating patterns.
● Experience with alterations using heavy fabrics.
● Experience sewing in an environment where meeting quick turnaround times is extremely important.
● Experience sewing finished goods.
● Minimum of two years’ experience in industrial sewing preferred.
